Auditions

So, you are auditioning for Eclectic Tendencies?

Here are some tips/guidelines/thoughts for you:

  • Pick a song that you know shows you off well. You should be confident on your song. Don’t pick a new song the night before :)

  • Yes, you have to sing. We need to hear everyone’s voice.

  • Please only a verse and a chorus of your song. There are many auditions to get through. If you do more, you may get stopped (it’s nothing personal).

  • It can be a cappella, using a karaoke track or accompanied by piano, guitar, ukelele or accordion (brownie points for accordions) (just kidding on the brownie points)

  • Please come prepared at your audition time. People will be called in when it is the next person’s turn. Do not come in the room without invitation so as to not interrupt someone else’s performance. You can wait outside the double doors between the two music rooms.

  • Auditions will be in Room 156

  • There are not many spots. What makes E.T. partially different is that because of a limited size, we can try new things. We need people from different abilities, female and male. Therefore, successful candidates will be chosen from a variety of reasons. To speak more clearly, we don’t need 12 soprano voices. We need a mixture of all voices and we need some people who also play instruments as well.

  • Have fun!

  • It’s NEVER personal. We can’t accept everybody and if you do not get a spot this year, you can always try again next year (if in Grade 11).

  • ONLY AUDITION IF YOU CAN COMMIT TO THURSDAY PRACTICES AFTER SCHOOL FROM 3 - 4 PM AND 1 MORNING BEFORE SCHOOL (8:00 - 8:40 AM)
